Shiomi Memorial

There is a special room called “Shiomi Memorial” in the School of Science, The University of Osaka. The room has been used as a chemistry seminar room by teachers and students for deepening research through discussions. The origin of the name of this room is not necessarily widely known to the users, however. This room was established to make known and pass down to generations after generations the history of Shiomi Institute for Physical and Chemical Research which played a key role in the founding of The University of Osaka School of Science and The University of Osaka as well as to introduce the efforts and passion of Masaji Shiomi for creating the Shiomi Research Institute.
